Gowanda, New York (USA) – Gowanda Electronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance inductors and magnetic components for demanding RF and power applications, announces the retirement of its Vice President of Sales, Denis Kohlhagen, effective January 31, 2022. Kohlhagen’s illustrious career with the company spans 23 years, marked by significant contributions to the company’s growth and customer relationships.
Career Highlights and Achievements
Denis Kohlhagen joined Gowanda Electronics in 1999 as a Territory Manager. Over the years, he cultivated and maintained long-term relationships with several major customers, many of whom continue to purchase high-performance components from the company to this day. His strategic efforts were instrumental in expanding Gowanda’s presence into new markets, including the medical, military, space, and high-end commercial sectors.
Kohlhagen played a pivotal role in introducing new products designed by former CEO Don McElheny and CTO Jim Cadwallader. He also significantly enhanced the company’s trade show participation, increasing exposure and sales in key strategic markets. His success led to his promotion to Director of Sales in 2009 and subsequently to Vice President of Sales in 2013.
Transition and Legacy
As Kohlhagen prepares for his retirement, he is working closely with the newly appointed Director of Sales, Peter Growney, to ensure a seamless transition. Growney, with over 30 years of experience in sales within the electronic component industry, is well-positioned to continue Kohlhagen’s legacy.

Personal Plans
Following his retirement, Kohlhagen looks forward to spending more time with his family in South Carolina, where he has been working remotely for the past five years.
