CUSTOM DESIGN

By working with our customers at the design level, Gowanda is able to help accelerate product development cycles AND enhance product design and performance. We strive to provide rapid design and development of custom components to address customer needs for reliability, differentiation and faster time to market. Gowanda’s custom designs respond to the need for components that can do more than what is offered by off-the-shelf products.

For application-specific products, Gowanda uses a collaborative approach, working closely with OEM project teams during the early stages of design development (when footprints and configurations are open for review and change recommendations), thereby providing critical guidance and recommendations for effective product design. Gowanda continues this collaboration with the OEM team long after the design and prototype stages are complete, assuring that the component is appropriately tested, qualified and manufactured.

New product introduction normally entails but is not limited to the following component development cycle:

Our extensive engineering experience, technical competency and industry relationships give us the necessary foundation to navigate through your component development cycle quickly. Well-informed decisions on the most appropriate configuration, the best materials, the critical electrical requirements and the ease of manufacturability are key elements considered in the design and development phases for a component’s application.

Analytical tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) are often incorporated for critical-application products within defense/aerospace, space and medical markets. When appropriate, Gowanda will create Qualification Test Plans, perform the actual environmental tests in our in-house test lab and document the results via test reports, in a minimal amount of lead time. Compliance and certification become part of the process once a design is finalized and qualified to its application.
